My last days in Spain were spent with a few hours in Marbella watching the boats from seaside cafes and a quick culture fix in Malaga at the Picasso museum. At the museum we happened upon Dennis Hopper's-On The Road Exhibition- unexpected and rather cool! Dennis Hopper, not only the crazy dude actor but also the accomplished photographer. His stuff is great- nostalgic, graphic, photojournalistic, proper black and white prints. He had his camera on the pulse of 1960's, 70's and 80's California cinema and cultural scene. Certainly an interesting life with an interesting view, a real rebel without a cause. I appreciated the retro glimpse of L.A. through his photographs. Check out the Dennis Hopper website for his extraordinary biography and to see his photography.
Also passed this art nouveau style looking cinema around the corner from the museum... have you seen this film? It premiered last year and I can't believe I've missed it. On The Road, the new cinema adaptation of the famed 1957 Jack Kerouac novel from Brazilian director Walter Salles, produced by Francis Ford Coppala, starring Sam Riley, Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen- a few of my faves!! This movie has so many ace ingredients... can't wait to check it out!!
